
COBB JAMES TEMPLE, JR. Age 75, of Arlington Heights, Illinois and formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center of Elk Grove Village, Illinois. He was born on March 9, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio to James T. and Norma (Wellman) Cobb. He married Lana J. Lane (who preceded him in death on July 2, 2004) on June 14, 1964 in Lafayette, Indiana. James was a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. James graduated with a B.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1960, then he received his M.S. from Purdue University in 1963, and he earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1966. James was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE), and the First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Wilkinsburg, PA. He is survived by two sons, Christopher and wife, Catherine Pellegrino of South Bend, IN and Kendall Cobb of Chicago, IL; grandson, James Louis Bradley Cobb; sister, Patricia and husband, Robert C. Beach of Beverly Hills, MI; two brothers, William R. and wife, Jill Cobb of Cincinnati, OH and Robert W. and wife, Sandra Cobb of Worthington, OH. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community, 2700 Jane St., Pittsburgh, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rails to Trails Foundation, the James T. Cobb, Jr. Engineering Scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh, or to the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
