BLACK WILLIAM H. Age 95, of Plum, formerly of Turtle Creek, passed away on December 11, 2013. Beloved husband of the late E. Jean (MacLaughlin) Black; loving father of Donald H. (Terrie) Black, Daniel E. Black and David W. Black; brother of the late Donald Black. Bill served in the Army during WWII and remained in the active reserves, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel after 37 years of service. He was an engineer for Westinghouse for 40 years where he worked on the Atomic Submarine Program. He was a member of the Unity United Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. After retirement he logged over 3,000 hours at the Veterans Administration Hospital, over 600 hours at the Seneca Place Nursing Home and many hours at numerous other nursing homes and Allegheny County adult day care centers working in the activities departments getting together parties, slide shows and various kinds of entertainment for the residents. He also has been a docent at the Westinghouse Museum for over 12 years. He was a member and volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America and received the Eagle Scout Award. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., corner of (118) Shaw and Triboro Avenues, Turtle Creek (412-823-1950), where a service will be Tuesday 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Churchill Cemetery. www.jobefuneralhome.com Send condolences at post-gazette.com/gb
