YOUNGUE DR. ELIZABETH (NORTH) Wife of the late Dr. Eugene Lloyd Youngue, Jr., Neuro Psychiatrist and native of Charleston, SC, passed away on January 3, 2014. She moved to Pittsburgh from St. Louis, MO in 1950 with her husband. She was employed in the Pittsburgh Public School System as a music teacher, activities director, administrator, and taught vocal music at the Center for the Musically Talented. At retirement, she worked at Duquesne University as supervisor of teacher training, and ended her teaching career at Penn St. University where she taught Teacher Education and served as Supervisor of Teacher Training. Dr. Youngue graduated from Avery Institute, a private high school in Charleston, SC, received her Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from West Virginia State College in Institute, WV, her Masters of Arts in Music from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and her Ph.D. in Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Musically, Dr. Youngue was very active, having performed in Chatham College Opera Workshops, as alto soloist in the Calvary Episcopal Church choir in Shadyside and Church of the Redeemer in Squirrel Hill, and enjoyed solo appearances with the Bach Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and on college campuses and on various venues throughout the United States. Dr. Youngue's organizational affiliations included the Pittsburgh Chapter of The Links, Inc., a national organization where she held many offices at the local and national levels, including president of the local chapter. She was a member of the Northeasterners, a social organization having chapters primarily in the United States. She was initiated into the Nu Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority chapter, and served as a member for over 70 years. She served on the Board of Health, Education and Welfare, the Pittsburgh Ballet, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, Chatham Baroque and was a member of the Tuesday Musical Club, as well as Just Us, and Lamps Bridge Clubs. She leaves to grieve a son, Dr. Eugene L. Youngue III; daughter, Sharon L. Youngue, J.D.; and granddaughter, Erin L. Youngue. Friends may call Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at WHITE MEMORIAL CHAPEL OF PT. BREEZE, 7204 Thomas Blvd. Funeral Ceremony Thursday, January 9, 2014, 11 a.m. at Church of the Redeemer, 5700 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill.
