
GREEN WILLIAM CLAYTON, Jr. 78, of Bluffton, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 8, 1935 to the late William and Mary Green. He was a 1957 graduate of Purdue University and sold commercial and industrial real estate since 1959. He was a commissioned officer in the Air Force Reserves and was an avid golfer. He loved to sing, first performing in his father's nightclub at the age of six with Lawrence Welk. He sang throughout his life, including several years with the Hilton Head Barbershoppers. Bill met his wife, Marian, while singing in the church choir and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December. Bill is survived by his wife, Marian Salsbury Green; three children, Bruce Green (Nancy), Terrilyn Sassmann (John) and Kellee Green (Steve); four grandchildren, Nicole McCarl (Foster), Laura Gilchrist (Tom), Mathew Crouch and Christina Crouch; two great- grandchildren, Ray Gilchrist and Landon Crouch; one sister, Mary Ann Langholz (Armin); and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. The family requests memorial donations be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC 29910.
