PHYTHIAN JOHN McCLURE, Jr. Of Freedom, formerly of Coraopolis, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014. He was born on June 30, 1941, in Frankfort, KY, to the late John and Evelyn (Jones) Phythian, Sr. John served as a marine in Vietnam and proudly gave 24 years of service to his country. He retired from the Air Force as part of the 171st Air Refueling Wing in Pittsburgh. He spent his civilian career with US Air, where he worked 23 years as a mechanic and inspector. He retired in 2003. John and his wife of 18 years, Linda Rose (Casaceli) Phythian, traveled extensively and enjoyed seeing the world together. They also volunteered for Heartland Hospice. John cherished time spent with friends and family while golfing, dining, or sharing a good laugh. He was a member of Victory Family Church in Cranberry Twp., PA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, Richard Kasowski of Coraopolis and Paul Kasowski and his wife, Janel, of Gibsonia; three grandchildren, Maximus, Macalister, and Jemma; his sister, Patricia Badgett of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 24 years, Virginia Phythian. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the COPELAND MOON TWP. FUNERAL HOME, 981 Brodhead Rd., where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Paul Peterson of Victory Family Church, officiating.
