SMITH BERTHA ROSE (FERRELLI) Age 67, of Castle Shannon (formerly of South Park), PA, surrounded by her family, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Devoted wife of 44 years to the late James E. Smith, Sr.; loving mother of Rose Marie (James Hakim) Smith, Sandra Lynn Smith, and James Edward (Amy Zychowski) Smith, Jr.; cherished nana of Alexandra, Jordan, Aaron, Zachary Smith and the late Tammy Lynn Wilson; daughter of the late John Ferrelli and the late Elizabeth McDine; sister of Bette (Ronald) Boyer, George (Debbie) McDine and Howard (Kathy) McDine, John Ferrelli, Samuel Ferrelli, Jerry Ferrelli, Kathy Ferrelli, Judy Harris, Diane Powell and William Stanko; sister-in-law of Anna Marie Schlata and George Schlata, Jr.; also known as "Aunt Bertha" to many nieces and nephews. Bertha worked at the South Park Golf Course, South Park Ice Skating Rink, and worked as a housekeeper for the Bureau of Mines after retiring in 2008. She also dedicated her life to her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association, 810 River Avenue, Suite 140, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and again on Sunday from 12 p.m. until time of Blessing Service at 2 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills.
