VACHON LAWRENCE J. 83, born in Boston, MA on September 13, 1930, passed away on March 9, 2014. Prior to his retirement in 1990, he was employed by Westinghouse as a nuclear physicist and strategic planner on diverse nuclear research programs. He is survived by his wife, Betty Chorba Vachon; daughter, Karen (Joseph) Vachon-Thaner of Pittsburgh; daughter, Eileen (Ronald ) Vachon-Vierra of Arizona; son, Mark (Karen ) of Massachusetts; son, David of Pittsburgh; son, Paul of Arizona; son, Steven (Michele) of Pittsburgh; and daughter, Judith of Pittsburgh. Lawrence was blessed with ten grandchildren. He also leaves a stepson, James Chorba of Texas; stepson, Mark (Diann) Chorba of Virginia; and a stepdaughter, Carrie (Kevin) Smith of West Virginia. In addition to ten step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren, he is survived by a brother, Robert of Florida, as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces from the New England states and Canada. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME, INC., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Twp. (724-929-7934), where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, 1870 Rostraver Road, Belle Vernon, PA.
