BIER RAYMOND JOSEPH Raymond Joseph Bier, son of Clarence and Marguerite Gentile Bier of Overbrook, died April 17, 2014, of heart disease, at his home in Austin, Texas. He attended Carrick High School (class of '50), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Sigma Chi), and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in physics. He worked for Corning Glass before moving his family to Palo Alto, California in 1962 to work for Lockheed Missiles & Space. After retirement in 1990, he moved to Austin, Texas. He maintained the friendships he made in school continued to return to Pittsburgh to visit and to attend Carrick reunions. His parents; and sister, Elaine Bonner, predeceased him. He is survived by his daughter, Lorraine of Austin; son, David Maxwell of San Francisco; and their mother, Beverly Bier-Pedersen of Gig Harbor, Washington. Send condolences at post-gazette.com/gb
