CURTO MARIE-ELIZABETH BETTE Age 99, of Concordia of the South Hills, formerly of Chatham Village, on Monday, May 12, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Curto; sister of the late Kathryn (William Kenneth) Lowe; very special aunt of D'nis (Lowe) (Jerry) Lynch of Mt. Lebanon; also aunt of Virginia Caliguiri of Pittsburgh and many other nieces and nephews; cousin of Joseph (Deloris) Pesch of Sheffield Lake, OH; dear aunt to Janet (Timothy) Kurtz of Mt. Lebanon, Blair E. Kurtz of Jersey City, NJ, Casey (Thomas) Hoesch of Pottstown, PA, R. David Wert of Falls Church, VA, and James (Kim) Wert of Pittsburgh, PA. Bette retired after 58 years as human resource director and held various other positions with The Gage Company. She was also a member of Trinity Cathedral, Downtown, since 1950, having served in many capacities, such as, Altar Guild, Wedding Coordinator and volunteer at the Book Store. Bette loved to travel, particularly to Ireland. During World War II, she was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross. In her later years, she tutored with the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council. She was a remarkable woman whose grace and gentility touched everyone she encountered.
