DETWILER DONALD W. Passed into eternal rest on July 28, 2013. Born on January 8, 1921, he was the seventh child of John and Eva Mallory Detwiler. Husband of the late Rita Jane McNamara Detwiler for 61 years. He leaves behind his son, Joel; and his daughter, Sue; two grandchildren, Matt and Julie, as well as his great-grandson, Jacob; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Detwiler attained Scouting's highest honor-Eagle Scout. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and served in the US Marines in WWII in the South Pacific. As a former staff member of The Cole Funeral Home, Don was one of the first to pass the state and national exam as a certified EMT. Friends will be received on Friday, August 2, 2013 in THE RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 328 Beaver Street, Sewickley, PA 15143 from 12-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Alto-Reste Memorial Park on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends there from 1-2 p.m. Contributions may be made in Don's name to The Shriner's Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
