McCLOSKEY LOIS JEAN 75, of Lower Burrell, died peacefully on August 10, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife for 49 years of Richard Karl McCloskey; cherished mother of Kevin (Jennifer), Brian, and Douglas (Daniel); dear grandmother of Brady, Isabella, Shane, and Amelia. Born October 13, 1937 in Rochester, PA, Lois was the daughter of the late John and Mary Danylo. She graduated from Aliquippa High School and later received a degree in business management from Robert Morris College. Lois was a member of the Zeta Chi chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. After graduation, she worked as an assistant to a Vice-President of Jones & Laughlin Steel. Lois was active in the General Federation of Women's Clubs for many years. She was a past president of the local New Kensington chapter, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter, and also served as a state director. During this time, she helped publish a local history booklet called "Lore of Yore" and helped raise funds to modernize the current site of the People's Library of New Kensington. She was a patron of the arts, supporting the Pittsburgh Ballet, Opera and Symphony. She loved cooking, visiting beautiful gardens, and reading mystery novels. But above all, she loved being around her darling husband, her three sons, and her four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are by ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Viewing will be private. Friends are welcome to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1125 Leishman Ave., New Kensington on Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow the Mass at Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in Lower Burrell.
