
RHEA OSCAR OZZIE Age 96, of St. Barnabas Village in Gibsonia, and formerly of Whitehall, passed away on August 27, 2013. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary (Broadhurst) Rhea; his children, Bill (Marcia) Rhea, Mary (Steve) Kneeland and John (Mary) Rhea; nine grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Ozzie served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II earning the rank of staff sergeant. Almost his entire work career was spent at Mellon Bank in the Pittsburgh area, retiring in 1980 after 41 years. As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed following his beloved Steelers and Pirates. Upon retirement, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and became a golf enthusiast, joining friends from the Pleasant Hills area for weekly matches. In his 80s, Ozzie achieved his first of two holes in one. Age never slowed him and in his 90s, he won two consecutive golf league championships. Ozzie and his wife were active members of the Pleasant Hills United Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon and elder until moving to Gibsonia in 2009. A Celebration of Life service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2942 E. Hardies Road, Gibsonia.
