She was born August 23, 1920 in Steubenville, OH, and was the daughter of the late Stelios and Steliane (Yialouris) Bournos. She was the wife of the late James N. Loizes, Sr, who was the former Chief of Police in McKeesport. She was a member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of White Oak and was a Sunday School Teacher and member of St. Markella Plilotochos Society. She was also a Sunshine Girl, that visited the home bound and hospitalized patients. Ann received the St. Photios Award for her dedicated service to her parish. During WWII when all the men went to war, she worked at Weirton Steel as a Rosie the Riveter. She is survived by her son, James N. (Fran) Loizes, Jr., of Greentree, and daughter, Estella Tootie (Joseph) Barton of White Oak, grandchildren, Todd (Melissa) Loizes, Brian (Marcie) Loizes, Erica (Jerry) Coulehan, Deja (Jay) Barton, and Savannah (Matt) Bucey, great-grandchildren, Dmitri, Marcus, Makyah, Christian, Autumn, Noah, Norah, Brooklyn, and Parker, goddaughter, Connie Skezas, and nieces and nephews. Bob was an U.S.Army veteran, serving in Korea at the onset of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a mill press operator for WABCO in Wilmerding for 20 years until a plant slowdown in the 1980's. He then retrained and was hired with the Social Security Administration. Bob specialized in working with the blind employees in the downtown office of the SSA. His favorite pastime was fishing at various locations on the Monongahela River and at Loyalhanna Lake. He appreciated animals and deeply loved and was devoted to his family. Born October 30, 1941, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Elizabeth Rachel (Kovach) Livingston and the husband of Janet S. "Jan" (Spice) Livingston. Don retired from McKeesport Area School District, where he taught Organic Chemistry, for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 92nd Medical Detachment in Budingen, Germany. He had a passion for sports and loved coaching the Little Tigers, Daily news teams and PVAA. In all his years of coaching, teaching, and nourishing the young minds, his advice was to always, "Do Your Own Best." In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his sons, Donald C. (Victoria) of Mt. Lebanon and Douglas J. (Pam) Livingston of North Huntingdon; step-children, Jerrod K. She was very active in volunteering for her children's school and church, St. Robert Bellarmine. She was involved with the Girls Scouts of Western PA while serving as a leader for over 25 years and then serving on the Catholic Committee on Scouting for more than 40 years. Marjorie also volunteered for many years at St. Peter's Child Development Center working with special needs children. She volunteered for the East Allegheny Meals-On-Wheels well into her nineties. Bob graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a MEd and was a retired teacher who taught in Wilkinsburg School District for his entire 36 year career. He was a huge Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed coaching youth basketball and soccer. His greatest achievement was his three children. He was married for 57 years to his beloved wife, Eleanor "Ellie", enjoying their retirement years near the Beach. He is survived by sons, Robert and James; daughters-in-law, Jill and Susan; four grandchildren, Kate (husband, Kyle Cameron), Jill, Garrett, and Tanner; and two great-grandchildren, Reese and Ross. Regis spent his entire 60-year career in the flooring industry, where his creativity, good nature, and tireless dedications to the well-being of his customers made him a legend in the floor covering business and a joy to his colleagues. JOSEPH E. K. ADJAYE Aged 79, enjoyed a rich and well lived life. Born on April 7, 1940, in Tarkwa, Ghana to Elizabeth Ulzen Adjaye and Robert Adjaye, he graduated from St. Augustine's College (high school) in Ghana in 1957. He received his BA, with honors, from the University of Ghana, Legon in 1963, MA from SUNY-Binghamton, MA from Northwestern, and his PhD from Northwestern University. Professor Adjaye was an eminent scholar and one of the topmost Ghanaian historians who had a distinguished teaching and administrative career at several educational institutions in Ghana and the US, including the University of Illinois (1977-1980), University of Wisconsin - Madison (1980-1987) and the University of Pittsburgh (1987-2011). He authored seven books, dozens of articles, book chapters and review essays that span subjects as diverse as chieftaincy, cultural transmission, information transformation, indigenous knowledge, Ghanaian rituals, sustainable development, time in the Black experience, Black popular culture, the African Diaspora and many more. Professor Adjaye was the recipient of numerous awards and honors including Ghana's Teacher Ambassador to the U.S. (1972-73), Choice magazine Outstanding Academic Book award, Herskovits finalist for Diplomacy and Diplomats in 19th Century Asante, various Fulbright-Hays and National Endowment for the Humanities grants, and teaching and research grants from the University of Pittsburgh and Northwestern University. Family oriented, scholarly, humorous, a joker, very conscientious, deeply religious and strong in the face of adversity, Professor Adjaye was an accomplished ping-pong player, former 800 meter track runner and loved to travel. Above all, he will be remembered for his generosity. He donated a fully-equipped computer lab to St. Augustine's College and sponsored the renovation of its sport stadium. He sponsored the friends of relatives that he did not know who were entering the US, established a scholarship endowment at the University of Ghana and frequently helped fellow parishioners who were having financial difficulties. He is survived by wife, Dinah Adjaye; children, Maureen Aryee (Daniel) and Stacie Adjaye-Mims (Harry); grandchildren, Audrey-Claire and Gracie; siblings, Rose Priddy, Robert Adjaye, Angela Adjaye, Sophia Adjaye, John DeHeer Adjaye, Florence Attah-Baah, and Gloria Asamoah; numerous nieces and nephews, fellow parishioners and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kwammena Essilfie Adjaye. Friends will be received at JOHN A. MARY I. "MARIE" (FRYDRYCH) PLECENIK Age 96, of East McKeesport, died Saturday, June 29, 2019. She was born May 19, 1923 in South Wilmerding, a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Dlugosz) Frydrych and was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Stephen C. Plecenik and brothers, Blanchard, Edward, Henry, and Chester Frydrych. Marie was an employee of Westinghouse Airbrake Co., Wilmerding from the early 1940's until she married her husband in 1949. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and was an avid bowler with her husband at Great Valley Lanes. She was very proud of her Polish heritage. Surviving are her children, Marian (Art) Belotti and Mark Plecenik; her grandchildren, Christina (Marty) Moyer and Annette (Nathan) Suwalski; three great-grandchildren, Breanna and Dylan Suwalski and Levi Moyer; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the FORGIE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Robert Bellarmine Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
