JONES RUTH ELEANOR (DAVIS) Age 90, of Mount Lebanon, on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Wife of the late Donald George Jones; loving mother of Robert (Beth) and John (Karen) Jones; grandmother of Hillary, Daniel, Brian and Libby; aunt of Robert, Ruth and Diane. Ruth was a longtime member of Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and active volunteer at Asbury Heights and St. Clair Hospital. She was a graduate of Western Maryland College in Westminster, MD in 1944 and a kindergarten teacher in Baltimore, MD. Family Plans No Viewing. CORTESE DANIEL JAMES Of Jeannette, died Thurs., May 8, 2014, in the UPMC, Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 23, 1975, in Pensacola, FL, a son of Philip and Cynthia (Procious) Cortese of Monessen. Daniel was employed as a technician for Feltes Cycle, of Jeannette. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War serving with the Air Force. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Dennis (Kathy) Cortese, of Youngwood; a sister, Dawn (Jesse) Gentry, of Jacksonville, NC; niece and nephew, Laken and Brodie Cortese of Youngstown, OH; a great-niece and nephew, Haiden and Tavin Cortese; three “new” nieces, Lindsay, Samantha and Erica Black; maternal grandmother, Donna Procious of Greensburg; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Dan was a devoted Harley Rider and enjoyed riding with his family and friends. He was a gifted custom motorcycle mechanic and artist. Friends will be received 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wed. at the J.F. Kathleen was the former Director of the Medical Records Department at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1964-1981. POLLIARD AGNES EBBITT Age 84, of Delmont, passed away peacefully Friday, May 9, 2014, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 1, 1930, in Swissvale, a daughter of the late George and Jemima (McIlroy) Nicoll. Agnes was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose family was of the utmost importance to her. She was a longtime member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church, Delmont, and served as treasurer of the Cloverleaf Community Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 22 years, Merle D. Polliard and sister, Ruth Steffey. Agnes will be dearly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Vivian (Jack) Leichtfuss, of Wisconsin, Anna (Rick) Speranza, of Jeannette, Becky (Rick) Getkin, of Penn Hills, Melanie Ebbitt, of Delmont, and Fran (Doug) Bittner, of Mt. Pleasant; and brother, George (Patricia) Nicoll. Agnes was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, Brad, Angel, Stephanie, Jackie, Ricky, Christopher, Michael, Hope, Andy, Kelly and Dougie; and proud great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. FIGALLO DR. EDUARDO M. Dr. Eduardo M. Figallo, M.D., age 85, of Fox Chapel, former Director of Anesthesiology at DuBois Regional Medical Center, passed away at his home, on April 15, 2014. Born on February 25, 1929, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, he was the son of the late Andres and Ynez Figallo. He was married to Olga Razetto de Figallo on April 19, 1965, in Lima, Peru. Prior to moving to DuBois in 1982, Dr. Figallo's professional career included service in clinical and academic positions in Lima at the British-American Hospital and the National Cancer Institute, in Pittsburgh at Magee Women's Hospital, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Presbyterian University Hospital, and in Greensburg at Westmorland Hospital. Dr. Figallo was appointed Director of Anesthesiology at DuBois Hospital in 1982 and assumed the same position at DuBois Regional Medical Center in 1985. He also served as staff anesthesiologist at DRMC Pain Evaluation & Management Center. At DRMC, Dr. Figallo was fundamental in establishing the Pre-surgery Clinic, the Labor Epidural Program, and the Pain Management & Evaluation Clinic, and he established the Anesthesia Quality Assurance Program protocols for JACHO accreditation. Dr. Figallo earned his M.D. degree at the University of San Marcos School of Medicine in Lima. He served as Captain in the Peruvian Army Medical Corps, completed his internship and residency at John Gaston University Hospital, University of Tennessee, and earned fellowships at Philadelphia General Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, University of (Seattle) Washington Hospital, University of Virginia Hospital, and American College of Anesthesiologists. He was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He is survived by five children, Carla and husband, Richard, of Fayetteville, GA, Eduardo, Pittsburgh, Ricardo and Kathy Peters, Columbus, OH, AIdo and wife, Lorissa, Charlotte, NC, Andres and wife, Melinda, Gahanna, OH; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Maria Rita Figallo Adrianzen de Polti, both of Lima. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Guillermo Figallo Adrianzen. Dr. Figallo and his family were an integral part of the DuBois area community for 24 years until his retirement in 2006 and return to Pittsburgh. Lebanon, PA; proud grandfather of Daniel, Anna, Spencer, and Bryce; son of the late Robert and Irma Slocum. James was born in Gary, Indiana, in 1942. He graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1960 and went on to earn a degree in mathematics from Muskingum College in 1965. He worked as a systems analyst for U.S. Steel for over 30 years. Jim enjoyed fishing, photography, vacationing, playing bridge, spending time with friends, family, and grandchildren, and helping others. Additionally, for several years, he assisted with a variety of activities at Christ United Methodist Church, including health ministries, mission trips, fish fries, and more. His sense of humor and kindness is something everyone has appreciated over the years. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
