She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin. She enjoyed European travel, cooking, wine tasting and golf. She had a Master's of Business Administration and Master's of Arts and Liberal Studies both from Duquesne University. She was a daughter of Joseph and Cecelia “Tillie” (Gmutza) Kirch of West Mifflin; beloved wife of 22 years to Robert A. Preksta; stepmother of Courtney B. Preksta of Munhall and Christopher (Ashley) Preksta of Baldwin; grandmother of Jane and Catherine Preksta; sister of Terry Kirch of Huntington Beach, CA, Dianne (Douglas) Baxter of Bethel Park; sister-in-law of Arlene (Larry) Stevenson of Library, PA and Alberta (Rick) McClelland of Xenia, OH; aunt of Brittani Baxter and Kelsi Baxter; also survived by aunts and uncles. HENDRICKS DONALD J. “DONNIE” On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, of Kennedy Twp., our beloved husband, father, pap, brother and friend passed away suddenly at home. Age 76, husband of Sandra; father of Kristin Morgan (Alec Borowski) and Jason Hendricks; “Pap” of Sydney Morgan, Aidan Hendricks and Ryder Borowski; brother of Ginger Socha; and friend of many. Donnie was the son of the late Mary Coen Hendricks Minch and James Hendricks; brother of the late Martin Hendricks and James Hendricks; stepbrother of the late Dorothy Minch and William Minch. Don also leaves numerous nieces and nephews across the country and many cousins and relatives in England and Ireland. Donnie retired from PAT after 30-plus years and was an Army veteran serving in the US and Germany 1961-1964. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 464 and VFW Post 402. Don loved all sports, especially the Pittsburgh teams and the Pirates. He was an owner of multiple Corvettes over the years and a real Corvette enthusiast. ZIMMERMAN GARY B. Of Shadyside, age 75, believing fully he was still a kid. He died peacefully and strong on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, with his wife, daughters, family, soccer teammates, and good friends with him in person or in spirit. Born in Sykesville, Pennsylvania, he was preceded in death by his mother, Vaughn; father, Blaine; and sister, Karen Felczak. Gary was the much beloved and loving husband of Jane Campbell Moriarty; adored and adoring father of Lisa (Jeff Krackow), Amy (Eric Haldane) and Kat (Corey Hartman); and the amazing Pop-Pop of Lela and Aaron (Krackow) and Gibson (Zimmerman). He also leaves his sister, Deb Zediak (Brad); several cousins, nephews, nieces; and his lifelong friend, Dan Rowan. Gary received an Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant in the United States Army, was a graduate of Slippery Rock College and Duquesne University School of Law, and was a long-standing member of the Pennsylvania Bar. Admitted to practice in numerous federal and state courts around the country, he served as Deputy Director of the Allegheny County Public Defenders Office early in his career, and was a private criminal defense lawyer for decades. Gary was routinely listed in Best Lawyers in America and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers. A true lion of the bar, he was passionate about justice for his clients and was a resolute and fearless advocate in the courtroom. Although devoted to his family and his work, Gary was also a serious athlete his entire life. He was a very proud member of the Azzurri Soccer Team until his death, playing under his team-name "Guarino." Gary competed on the soccer, football and baseball teams while at Slippery Rock and played football in the Army. He began competitive running and downhill skiing at the age of 50 and even had a tryout with the Philadelphia Phillies after college. Gary was a stylish man with a terrific sense of humor and more than nearly anyone, loved having a good time. He truly lived. Final arrangements for Gary are private but there will be a Memorial Service in late November. The family requests that memorial donations be made to either the University of Pittsburgh (write “Simmons Center for Interstitial Lung Disease” on the check) or to Duquesne University School of Law Call to Excellence Fund, where a program is being created to assist in training current and future public defenders. MEANS JAMES ROBERT “BOB” Age 89, of West Mifflin, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on October 29, 2015. He was born in Vanderbilt, PA on April 29, 1926, to Bert and Naomi Means. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan Means. He is survived by his son, James (Sue) Means, Jr.; daughter, Carol (Mikhail) Spivak; sister, Dorothy Jeannie (Roger) Keightley; and brother, Terry (Carolyn) Means. Bob was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Bob, Jim, Amy, Laura (David), Linda (Michael), and Michael; as well as his great-grandchildren, Hailey and Jacob. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bert Stuart Means, Jr. Bob was a retired grade school principal from the Brentwood School District. Bob was also very involved at Holy Spirit Church where he led Marriage Enrichment classes as well as being a Eucharistic Minister.
