BOBURCZAK EVDOKIA (CHARKO) “EVA” Was accepted into the omnipotent hands of God from the devoted hands of her four daughters on January 28, 2016. For 92 years, filled with innumerable joy and memories, Eva's love, support and care brought fulfillment to the lives of her family and enriched all who were blessed to have known her. Eva was born on January 16, 1924, in Zamok Ukraine, the daughter of Theodore Charko and Maria Mylkus Charko. She spoke often of her early life and never forgot those years or lost her love for Ukraine. World events changed the course of her life. Following the end of WWII Eva immigrated to the U.S. She lovingly devoted her life to raising her family with the support of her husband, Wasyl who predeceased her in 2009. There was a practical and a poetic side to Eva. Eva flourished in the kitchen baking cakes and cooking, oftentimes incorporating the vegetables from her garden into her meals. She was precise in her sewing which she found relaxing. Her beautiful fragrant rose garden provided great pleasure to her as did dark chocolate. She recited poetry from memory, particularly the poems of Taras Shevchenko, Ukraine's poet laureate. She read from her Prayer Book and Bible and gifted her daughters with quotations of wisdom on life and learning. Eva inspired her daughters to pursue higher education which resulted in their attainment of lifelong independence. Her encouragement to aim and achieve the highest standards in all things was never ending. God granted Eva her wish to die peacefully at home with her loving family present. Eva is survived by Daria, Mary, Helen (Richard) Hart, Nadia (Steve) Vargo; and grandchildren, Laura, Luke, Bradley and Stephanie. The viewing will be held at THOMAS P. KUNSAK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3552 California Ave. at Davis Ave. on Sun. 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Parastas 7 p.m. Funeral Mon. at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 109 South Seventh St., Southside with Burial immediately following. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the International Rescue Committee, www.rescue.org/. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
