WAITKUS AGNES (DAPSIS) Born October 24, 1913, in Sparrow's Point, MD, the daughter of Stanley and Maryanna Rachis Dapsis, died March 31, 2014, at Rydal Park Medical Center, Rydal, PA. Raised in Woodhaven, Queens, New York, she attended Manhattan Needle Trades High School, graduating as valedictorian of her class and was a fitter in a Park Avenue couture fashion house, working with public figures until her marriage in 1940. She married Kashmir Andrew Waitkus and lived for 55 years in Plum Borough, PA, on the five-acre Waitkus Nursery. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington, PA. Mrs. Waitkus is survived by her children, Patricia Kaufman and her husband, Philip, Meadowbrook, PA, Charles Waitkus and his wife, Linda, Vestal, NY, and Karen Parker and her husband, Stephen, Upper Gwynedd, PA. Also survived by grandchildren Debra MacDonald, (William J.) Rydal, PA; Keith Kaufman, (Gloria) Shamong, NJ; Cara Waitkus, Vestal, NY, and Derek Waitkus (Courtney), Endicott, NY; and also by her great-grandchildren, Elias MacDonald, Kyle and Devon Kaufman, Jacob, Nicholas and Maisie Waitkus. Mrs. Waitkus was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Kashmir; brothers, Victor and Joseph Dapsis; and her sister, Mary Anne Dapsis. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a Prayer Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Christian Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church with Pastor John Szczesny officiating. Burial will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum.
