NAVARRO PASQUALE "PAT" Age 87, of Pittsburgh, PA on Friday, August 9, 2013. Father of Dominic (Shelley) Navarro II, Mary A. Navarro, Patricia M. Navarro, Pasquale Navarro Jr., and friend of Daryl Hutson, all of Pittsburgh; grandfather of Nicole Aislyn Navarro of Key Largo, Florida and Dominic Navarro III of Pittsburgh; great-grandfather of Reagan Aislyn Loy; he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marie Delli Gatti Navarro; and is survived by his sisters, Prudence Navarro and Mary Alexandra Alexander; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. After graduating Shadyside Academy, he attended Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie Mellon University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1946 he entered the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1950 as a Second Lieutenant with a BS Degree in Military Engineering. After graduating, he served as a Company Commander of an Armored Calvary Unit in Regensburg, Germany for three years. Upon his return to Pittsburgh, he joined the family owned and operated General Contracting firm Navarro Corporation becoming President and General Manager in 1961. He was a Past President of the Pittsburgh Builders Exchange and The Master Builders Association of Western Pennsylvania and a Director of the Associated General Contractors of America. He was twice the recipient of the Top Award for the "Outstanding Individual in the Construction Industry." In 1971 he received a "Special Commendation" from the United States Labor Department for many contributions to the Improvement of the Industry and Community and in 1983 he was named as one of the top 200 influential people in Pittsburgh in a survey conducted by the Pittsburgh Press. He was a member of the Duquesne Club. Friends will be received on Monday 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street. Funeral Wednesday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 10 a.m. (Everyone please gather at church). Interment will be at West Point Cemetery, West Point, New York.
