ABBEY E. TODD It is with great pain and anguish that the Todd Family wishes to announce the passing of our daughter and sister, Abbey Todd. Abbey passed away late Friday night, April 3, 2020, at the age of 19. Abbey attended school in Hampton Township, PA and was currently studying Occupational Therapy as a Freshman at Ohio State University. Abbey was an accomplished figure skater and skated for North Park Skating Team. Skating was one of the true joys in her life. She was very artistic and talented and was also known for a sarcastic streak. Abbey's loving family are her parents, Al and Amy Todd; sister, Ashley Todd (with boyfriend, Nick Pappert) and brother, Adam Todd. She is survived by grandparents, Al and Heidi Todd and the late Don and Clare Lauterbach. Abbey leaves behind many aunts and uncles along with more than 30 first cousins. She leaves many saddened friends, especially the new ones at Ohio State. Abbey's constant companion and source of comfort, her dog Little Bear, is missing her terribly. Due to the virus outbreak, the funeral service at NEELY FUNERAL HOME in Glenshaw, PA will be limited to immediate family. Abbey will be interred at Allegheny County Memorial Park Cemetery in McCandless. The family intends to share the funeral service and graveside interment virtually with details to follow. The family is planning to establish a scholarship fund in Abbey's name. While we are still working how the fund will provide support, it will likely support kids with anxiety and depression, specifically to help those children navigate and complete high school along with funding for college. The family greatly appreciates the support from the Hampton School District who were extremely supportive, caring, and kind in helping Abbey complete her education and enter college. The family is suffering greatly and we wish that we could hug family and friends. We ask for no calls at this time as we are just unable to speak. Feel free to leave a message here or using text or email. Our faith in Christ gives us hope at this time knowing Abbey no longer suffers from the pain and depression that she carried for many years. As we have painfully learned, depression can be a fatal disease. Despite her own struggles, she cared deeply about others who also fought the battle. She had a big heart and often counseled and talked to others in the same condition. Her desire to be a therapist was based on her deep desire to help others, especially children. The family asks that you please reach out to others during this time of isolation and concern. Please just simply do this in Abbey's memory. We will leave you with Abbey's favorite quote, which was under glass on her desk, Sometimes the strongest among us are the ones who smile through the silent pain, cry behind closed doors and fight battles nobody knows about.
