BHAME DOROTHY J. Age 89, of Zelienople, went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 30, 1925, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Ivan L. and Anna Berry, Sr. Dorothy was a faithful member of the Grace Church of Harmony for 64 years and also served 20 years as a Sunday School teacher there. She worked at Herman Pneumatic while her husband served in the United States Army. She volunteered at Passavant Retirement Community for several years. Dorothy was also instrumental in helping to establish the current Harmony Museum. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 64 years, Russell Lee Bhame, whom she married on August 26, 1950; her two children, Donna (Gary) Davison of Connoquenessing and David (Karen) Bhame of Princeton, NJ; and her three grandchildren, Erin (Evan) Conner, Roy Bhame, and Marlena Bhame. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Ivan L. Berry, Jr. The Bhame family will welcome friends and family on Sunday, February 15, 2015, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 219 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople. A Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015, at the funeral home, with Rev. Peter J. Everett, officiating. LUISI ANTHONY, Jr. On February 11, 2015, Anthony Luisi, Jr., died and went to the Lord at the age of 94. Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 69 years, Mary, who died in 2011. Cherished father (father-in-law) of Bill (Dawn) Luisi, Jim (Sheila) Luisi, Fr. Joe Luisi, and Janet Luisi; beloved grandfather of Danielle and Nicole Luisi, Tori (Justin) Faerber, and Brian Luisi; loving great-grandfather of Dillon Faerber. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Concetta Luisi; and each of his other six siblings, Michael, Carl, John, Daniel, Nicholas, and Philomena. Anthony was born in the town of Troia, Italy and came here as an infant. He graduated from Canonsburg High School, where he met and later married his classmate, Mary D'Orazio. Like most of his brothers, Tony served in World War II. He and Mary raised their children in Houston, PA, in the house that Tony designed and help build. Tony was a founding member of St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, where he and Mary attended the daily 7:00 a.m. Mass and volunteered in a variety of church ministries over the years. By all accounts, he was a pillar of the church community. He worked as a mechanical designer and crew chief for all of his adult life until his retirement for the former Pennsylvania Transformer Company which became McGraw - Edison Company and later took on the name of Cooper Industries. Tony was a Cub master and Institutional Representative for pack 385, St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg for many years. He was awarded both the Silver Beaver and St. George Award for his contributions to the Boy Scouts of America over a 50 year period. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Men's Club and Chartiers-Houston Library Board. Tony was gifted with admirable artistic ability, especially in his printing. Before his illness, Tony was an avid bowler, golfer, dancer, and gardener. Tony will be remembered for his sense of adventure, love of family, strong work ethic, story-telling, intelligence, striving for excellence, kindness, humility, faithfulness, compassion, cheerfulness, and servant-like attitude. He will leave an irreplaceable void in the hearts of the family and friends that were privileged to know and love him but who now give him to the Lord. Special thanks to all of his caregivers including those at the Country Meadows Nursing Home, Bridgeville, Dr. Michael Heise, and Catholic Hospice. ALLEN JAMES RICHARD Age 79, of Longboat Key, Florida, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 10, 2015. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Edgar and Elsie Allen. He was preceded in death by daughter, Cynthia Lee Allen. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny”; daughter, Denice (Ken) McDonough; son, Ron (Dawn) Allen; brother, William (Donna) Allen; and sister, Lois (Ken) Keener; and grandchildren, Kris (Katie) McDonough, Jordan McDonough, James Allen, Cameron Allen, Alyssa Allen, Colby Lengel and Levi Lengel. He was a founding partner of National Development Corporation, a real estate development, construction and management company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh and a proud supporter of Pitt Athletic Programs and Katz Business School. He enjoyed his love of golf as a former member of Churchill Valley Country Club and a member of Longboat Key Club. There will be no memorial services. BLOOM IRVING LOUIS Born April 4, 1934, Judge Irving Louis Bloom passed Feb. 11, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of the late Charlotte Bloom and Harold Bloom, a Greensburg city policeman beloved by many residents. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1952 and the University of Pittsburgh in 1956 and was a member of its Varsity Debating Team and Kappa Nu Fraternity. Graduated from Pitt Law School in 1959 and had been a member of Westmoreland County Bar Association since 1961. Established a private legal practice with the late John F. Dent in 1961, called Dent and Bloom. Appointed solicitor for Greensburg-Salem School District in 1970. Appointed Chief Westmoreland County Solicitor, a post he held from 1976 to 1985. He had a superb and colorful career as a defense attorney. One case in particular illustrated his memorable wit in which he defended an individual who was accused of drunk driving while riding a horse. “A horse is a horse, of course, of course.” As solicitor he dealt with many cases involving civil rights, an issue he championed throughout his lifetime. Known for lacing his appearances in court with Shakespearean and Biblical quotes, and in private life he was a keen punster. He was renowned for his encyclopedic knowledge of the Civil War and led numerous tours of Gettysburg for the Westmoreland Bar Association. Bloom actively volunteered with the Lawyers Concerned with Lawyers (LCL) Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association from 1995 to the present. He was awarded the Fred Funari Award by the Mental Health Association of Westmoreland County for his service with LCL. Bloom served as a Worker's Compensation Judge from 1994 until his death. Formerly a member of B'Nai Israel Synagogue in Greensburg, he attended Beth Israel in Latrobe for many years. He played an active role in maintaining B'Nai Israel Cemetery. He is survived by his former wife, Diane Karp (Rudov); and their four children, Cara Bloom and son-in-law, Richard Carufel of Wilmington, NC, Joel Bloom and daughter-in-law, Jody Shapiro of Forest Hills, Ellen Bloom of Seattle, WA, and Steven Bloom and daughter-in-law, Robyn Neft of Moon; also survived by Norma Chase, his companion of 12 years; and three adoring granddaughters, Stella, Addie, and Sydney; along with step-grandson, Bradley. Funeral arrangements being handled by COSHEY - NICHOLSON FUNERAL HOME, 319 West Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Friday at which time a funeral service will take place with Sara Perman. Interment to follow in B'Nai Israel Cemetery. FONTANA OLIVER J. On February 8, 2015, in Columbia, Maryland, 87. Beloved husband of the late Elisabeth Fontana (Weindl) of Bad Tolz, Germany; loving father of Louise Maguire and husband, Brian of Arlington, MA, and Ann Margaret Fontana and husband, Richard L. Mantsch, of Columbia, MD; devoted grandfather to Christopher Mantsch and Megan Mantsch of Columbia, MD; and dear brother of Emilia Filidei and husband, Mirio, of Indio, CA. Mr. Fontana was born and spent most of his life in the Beechview section of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a lifelong member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II, and met and married his wife there. Mr. Fontana spent most of his adult life working as a chef at Tambellini's Restaurant on Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh, and moved to Columbia, MD in 2003.
